Silent Hill Gambling Machine
Konami generally flies under the radar for their love of gambling machines like slots and pachinko, but now they are taking a beloved franchise and moving it. The Silent Hill slot machine will be on display at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas from the 15th to the 17th of October, 2019. First reported by yahoo.com, this is the first news we have heard about anything Silent Hill related since 2014’s cancelled Silent Hill Project, in which Kojima was working alongside Guillermo Del Toro.
Konami decided to make a new Silent Hill game announcement today, but not the one fans wanted to hear as they're making a Pachinko game. The story broke on Yahoo! Finance who reported the company was working with SYNKROS' SYNK Vision to make a new Pachinko game for casinos called Silent Hill Escape.
You can see the machine here, which looks like it will be a three-seat pod, more than likely to be set up as a half-dozen units within a small space of each other. According to the info released, it will have facial recognition technology, which will be interesting to see how it is integrated. We can't wait to hear what Silent Hill fans think about their favorite IP being used as a gambling machine. Here's some quotes from the announcement.
'Konami's aim is empowering operators with exceptional entertainment to reach and engage today's players and beyond,' said Tom Jingoli, executive vice president & chief commercial officer at Konami Gaming, Inc. 'We are actively leveraging a combination of top technology, talent, design, and development to deliver a host of new products at this year's event, through the immediate years to come.'
'This cabinet is a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort, backed by a rich library of original titles,' said Jingoli. 'Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximize both player experience and operational results. This latest cabinet is a first glimpse at great things to come from Konami.'
'Our customers can expect to see a strong collection of KX 43 game content, much of which is available now, or in immediate months to come,' said Jingoli. 'From the eye-catching adventure of Ba Fang Jin Bao to brand extensions like Chili Chili Fire Boosted Wins & Wilds, KX 43 caters to players with a variety of engaging entertainment.'

This new Silent Hill themed slot machine from Konami might break the hearts of many fans who want the series to return.
Silent Hill Gambling Machines
Konami owns some of the most popular gaming franchises on the market such as Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, and Castlevania. However, the company has moved on from traditional video games and has started to create more pachinko machines and some fans might be a little ticked off after the announcement of their latest slot machine.
Konami has announced a new Silent Hill based slot machine titled Silent Hill: Escape. Konami referred to the new machine as a “for-wager slot experience.” This will only be one of many new machines that will be themed around the iconic horror series. The other designs will debut at the Global Gaming Expo (a gambling expo) later this month.
In a press release via Yahoo Finance, Tom Jingoli, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer from Konami, stated: “This cabinet is a striking combination of sleek entertainment, premium packaging, and player comfort, backed by a rich library of original titles. Everything, including its shape, screens, betting surface, and available merchandising, has been engineered to maximize both player experience and operational results.”

Tom ends his statement by saying that the cabinet is a “first glimpse at great things to come from Konami.” Just like Dustin Bailey stated over at PC GamesN, there has to be a joke somewhere in there, but the reality of the situation is funny enough.
This isn’t the first time Silent Hill has been used in the form of a slot machine. Kotaku reported back in 2015 the first horror game-themed pachinko-slot machine.

It is disheartening to see what Konami has turned their popular franchises into. They have turned some of the most iconic series in video games into gambling machines. Now as much as everyone loves to rag on Konami, the new direction the company has gone is probably working for them because they wouldn’t keep making these machines if it wasn’t. Still, it is still sad to know that we will probably never get that Metal Gear Solid remake we have all been wishing for. Oh well, this will have to do for right now.
