Starting this fall, the gaming and entertainment complex which debuted in the state back in 2010 will be known as Rivers Casino Philadelphia. This, as it turns out, is part of Rush Street Gaming’s plans to bring all of its properties in line with its Rivers-branded properties in Pittsburgh, Schenectady, New York, and Des Plaines, Illinois.
In addition to that, the renowned gaming operator is also reportedly looking into unifying its online gambling and sports betting products and serviced under one brand or platform across all the state where such activities have been legalized and are regulated.

That’s resulted in one casino being forced to once again close. The City of Philadelphia is ordering, effective Friday, Nov. 20, and lasting through Jan. 1, 2021, Rivers Philadelphia to be closed.
According to Greg Carlin, the chief executive officer of Rush Street, the forthcoming upgrades have been part of the company’s plans for quite a while. The decision to move forward with their implementation comes at a time in the company’s history where it “makes sense to have a unified brand”.
Even so, this is not the first time that the casino has undergone an upgrade. In fact, the forthcoming $15 million revamp and upgrade comes about three years after the Philadelphia-based gaming and entertainment complex went through a $164 million expansion which saw its size double from 90,000 square feet to a whopping 260, 000 square feet. This first expansion project involved the addition of a new poker room, a number of new dining options, a multipurpose event center, a parking garage as well as an expanded gaming floor.
What to Expect
Even though the forthcoming name change or rebrand will costsignificantly lower when compared to the 2016 expansion, it will involve some hugechanges.
“We’re going to buy all new chips, change all the signage, all the shirts, all of the business cards — it’s a long list of things that need to be swapped out. Not only that we’re upgrading the property, but we’re also going to add a state-of-the-art sports book. We’re redoing one of the restaurants. We’re re-carpeting the original casino floor. We’re changing the decorations, we don’t want this just to be a name change, we’re really changing the property as well,” the Rush Street Gaming CEO said.
All these upgrades are not only meant to bring the gaming complex to the same level as all of other Rush Street gaming properties but also to ensure that they are able to take on the Pennsylvanian gaming market on both the retail and online fronts. Fortunately, the customers have been promised a seamless transition that will be accompanied by expanded players’ club benefits as well as a 360-degree full-service gaming experience in land-based venues, online and on mobile.
